Tatuaje Fausto FT153

Jim - (Portland, OR, USA)

Being a creature of habit, there are a few local B&M's that I have never been to, usually opting for one of the 3 on my side of town.

Finding myself nearby, I stopped in one of these previously unexplored shops and quickly found myself face-to-face with the Tatuaje Fausto FT153 (6x50, $7.50); Fausto's have not yet made an appearance at the shops I usually frequent.
I purchased a couple and decided to light one up for the leisurely drive home. It has a nice, dark, oily wrapper and an aroma of spicy coffee.

I used a punch cut and found an easy draw; much easier than I expected for the size of the cigar. Upon lighting it, I am hit with a blast of spice, likely accentuated by such an easy draw.

After a few puffs, the spice mellows and the wood and leather flavor comes through on a consistent basis accompanied by a light sweetness.

Not as strong as the Tatuaje Black line, this Fausto sits comfortably in the medium-full range. It burned evenly, albeit a bit faster than I liked, and seemed a rather underfilled.

The ash held nicely; something I really appreciate on a cigar when I am driving. For me, this was a nice Nicaraguan puro, strong and spicy, but not overwhelming.

I think this is definitely a cigar I would like to have in my humidor.
